The Venango River Corporation was formed
in 1983 as an investment vehicle for four active railroaders and a marketing specialist to enter the shortline railroad business.
Over the years since then, Venango has owned railroads – some successful, others not – and provided support and
services for a large number and wide variety of railroads and rail users.
The original team has changed over the years. Many industry executives either got their start or
furthered their careers through a stint at Venango. In the past, Venango's veterans have included industry figures
such as Mike Franke, Ron Batory, Reilly McCaren, Bill Van Hook, Doug Banks, Joel Torres and others too numerous to mention.
Our ability to find the right people for the job is one of Venango’s greater strengths.
Similarly, the support and services Venango offers has changed over the years to meet
the needs of our Clients. When asked, Venango has provided regulatory cost and economic analysis for Wall Street and
the Surface Transportation Board (and its predecessor, the ICC), accounting and finance support, due diligence investigations
for investors, acquisition target identification and evaluation, railroad operating and contract switching management, track
constructions and maintenance management, terminal design, and the like. Most recently, our firm has responded
to the needs of shippers to lower their transportation costs by switching from high-cost trucking to environmentally friendly
and fuel-efficient railroad service to meet their transportation needs.
Our professionals serve a wide variety of Clients and we look forward to meeting your needs.
